Blacker the Berry tells authentic stories about economically disadvantaged communities who have been a victim of food apartheid, fulfilling the need for healthy food access and equity within and outside of our community. Blacker the Berry is built on creating community based around health and education. This is a multifaceted brand that operates as an event space, publishing company, juice company, clothing brand and more. Blacker the Berry is building a empire!

MY CONTRIBUTION

As the Brand Strategist and Visual Designer for Blacker the Berry, I led a comprehensive rebranding effort to better align the company with its core values and vision. The previous logo failed to reflect the brand's values and did not stand out in the market. My challenge as the designer was to develop two logo variations that could effectively represent both the juice company and its broader mission.I organized my client's thoughts and intentions, then developed an aesthetic, energy, and marketing strategy that authentically reflected both the brand owner and the target audience. By defining and executing the visual and experiential aspects of the initiative, I established a cohesive brand identity that resonated specifically with the target market.The result was a consistent and compelling brand experience that significantly boosted engagement. My work enhanced the project's visual impact while supporting its mission to empower, educate, and support women in underserved communities on health and wellness topics.In summary, my contributions to the strategic rebranding and visual identity of Blacker the Berry successfully aligned with the project goals, creating a more authentic and effective brand presence.

BRAND IDENTITY

This aesthetic is built around historical elements that are meant to feel nostalgic for the socio-political moments of the past while also bringing a modern, vibrant, and timeless look to Blacker the Berry. This brand grabs attention and provokes deep inner reflection regarding the Black experience, black art, and black health. BOLD colors, BOLD words, and BOLD design choices is how we grab attention, making this brand a catalyst of change.

THE MOOD

Blacker the Berry uses nostalgic typography from Books and political movements such as the Harlem Renaissance while being modern and fresh. We want this brand to represent an ongoing political movement that harnesses the energy of the past, present, and future.

COLOR PALLETE

Blacker the Berry Will use warm colors such as red and orange paired with cool colors such as green, blue, and purple. Bright colors such as Red and yellow increase adrenaline in the body, which helps grab attention and provoke emotional response. Using these with their complimentary color will create high contrast and make colors more effective/bright.
